Senior Quality Assurance Tester

Department: Research and Development

Reports To: Senior Manager, Technical Operations

Location: Blacksburg, Virginia

Status: Full-Time/Part-Time

As a Software Quality Assurance Tester, you love your job because you spend your days trying to break our product. You play with, manipulate, and abuse our software with the goal of finding bugs. You know that how well you test the products directly affects the ease in which our customers can use it–and that is what makes you jump out of bed in the morning.

If you want your paycheck

Your responsibilities to the customers (the people who pay us the big bucks) include:

• Ensuring that our software is bug-free
• Meeting their requirements and expectations
• Helping to ensure that our products are intuitive, easy to use, and dependable
• Testing our software on multiple hardware/software platform(s)

Your responsibilities to your co-workers (the people pounding at your door) include:

• Finding problems
• Ensuring that the problems are fixed
• Monitoring and improving the software development process
• Ensuring that standards and procedures are followed

Important Skills and Characteristics:

• A passion for quality with attention to detail
• The ability to maintain a cooperative relationship with developers
• The ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical people
• An understanding of the software development process and all levels of software testing
• You are organized, can multi-task, and can communicate effectively
